Tătarului Gorge

Tătarului Gorge has a unique genesis as they were chopped by the fast running waters of Brazilor Valley that collapse over the rocky steep faces of volcanic andesitic cliffs. The old growth spruce forest located on the steep cliffs includes a very rare species of luminescent moss: Schistostega pennata. Due to insufficient natural light, the rocky wall is upholstered with lichens of yellow -goldish color, very rare lichen species and a perfect nesting place for Rufous-tailed Rock-Thrush (Monticola saxatilis) and common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), both of them very vulnerable bird species that may be found only in few places in România.
